Class of 2015 graduates June 5

The Newberg High School Class of 2015 will receive diplomas in ceremonies on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Loren Douglas Field on the NHS campus.

Nineteen students who have maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while earning an honors diploma are class valedictorians. Valedictorians are Brynn G. Akins, Wesley C. Chambers, Victoria J. Eichten, Mikayla K. Farr, Hayden J. Ferrell, Kasey G. Fish, Elijah M. Gonzalez, Margaret A. Halstead, Joseph R. Holtan, Colten L. Lemos, Tate J. Masse, Mikhaela Francheska D. Nadora, Angel D. Nunez, Olivia R. Pugsley, Micah E. Sharp, Hannah R. Smith, Noah A. Sperling, Matthew R. Springer, and Naivit C. Velazquez Sereno.

Kassandra N. Allison, Jesse A. Comfort, Kearsten N. Friedrich, Brooklyne Hazenberg, and Hayley Koskela are class salutatorians, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average in regular academic classes.

Sixty-nine students have earned an Honors Diploma by maintaining a minimum 3.5 grade point average in a rigorous advanced courses and meet Oregon University System requirements.

Eight exchange students will participate in graduation cermonies. Page Peterson, class member who died in January, will receive an honorary diploma.

Newberg High School Principal Mark Risen will join the class valedictorians and Associated Student Body officers in addressing the class. JJ Olson, Tate Masse, Jon Miller and Samuel Emery will lead the national anthem.

Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza will present the Class of 2015 and members of the Newberg School Board will present diplomas to the approximately 340 graduates.

Traditional graduation activities include a senior recognition night on Wednesday, June 3rd and a senior breakfast prior to graduation practice on Thursday, June 4th.

Twenty-three students in the Catalyst Alternative School will graduate in ceremonies at the Newberg High School auditorium on Thursday, June 4th at 7p.m.

A parent-sponsored all-night drug and alcohol-free Grad Night Party at an un-disclosed location follow the Friday night graduation ceremonies.

A privately organized Baccalaureate will be held at 7 p.m. June 2, 2015 at Newberg Friends Church, 307 S. College in Newberg.
