Dual credit saves students $127,528 in college tuition

The Portland Community College Annual Report on the dual credit program shows that Newberg High School continues to have one of the most robust dual credit programs in the state.

In the 2010-11 school year, 169 Newberg High School students earned 1,678 college credits through PCC dual enrollment classes. Students enrolled in welding, Advanced Senior English, writing and horticulture classes earned PCC college credit as well as Newberg High School credit towards graduation, saving parents $127,528 in tuition costs.

Newberg ranks fourth in the state in credits earned. English teacher Kristyn Westphal ranked among the top ten high school teachers in awarding credits for English
