FFA Potato Project to feed the hungry

The Newberg FFA will donate nearly 14,000 pounds of potatoes harvested from an acre of land that students borrowed for a year-long pilot project. The majority of the crop will be donated and delivered to F.I.S.H early this week. 

The Oregon Potato Commission contacted Newberg about piloting a program to test new varieties of potatoes in small plots. The Howard G Buffet Foundation and National FFA “Food For All” program also provided support.

Newberg FFA and the FFA Alumni have a limited quantity of freshly harvested russet and red potatoes for sale. Contact FFA members Josh Brown at 503-351-6907 or Dan Womack at 503-476-6357 to purchase potatoes (see flyer for cost and quantities.)
