Flying Tiger Artists!

Newberg Nation is proud to announce that four of our Flying Tigers were recipients of distinguished awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! The nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition initiative for creative teens, this organization is the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers in the country!

Our Flying Tiger artists that won include honorable mention recipient senior Grace Hartley for her painting “Portland Vomit” and senior Mikhaela Nadora for her digital art titled “Whisper the Scent.” Silver Key winners include senior Colin Mason-Blaug for his drawing titled “River Line Work” and junior Cheyenne Jaques for her mixed media entry titled “Mixed Media.”

Tiger Gold Key recipients include junior Cheyenne Jaques for her drawing “Daft Life,” freshman Kiernen VandenHoek for his drawing “Conversations Over Coffee: Lost In Her Eyes,” “I Close My Eyes and See Clearly” (which also is an American Visions Nominee!!!), and senior Mikhaela Nadora for her photo, “Lolo!”

 This is the first time Newberg Nation has ever had four Gold Key winners! Way to go you Flying Tigers! Our Silver and Gold Key winners artwork will now be advanced and set on display at the 12th annual Willamette Valley High School Art Competition to be held at the Benton County Museum from March 20-April 11! Admission is free so get out there and support our talented artists!
