Newberg HS Class of 2016 graduates June 10

The Newberg High School Class of 2016 will receive diplomas in ceremonies on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Loren Douglas Field on the NHS campus.

Fifteen students who have maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while earning an honors diploma are class valedictorians. Valedictorians are Cameron L. Backus, Madison R. Bechtold, Claire E. Boenisch, Haley C.Bosse’, Kylee L. Duey, Jessica A. Gauvin, Derek J. Harber, Mason F. Herring, Elena M. Krupicka, Hope M. Maslen-Fulcher, Curtis P. Olson, Abigail M. Reohr, Nathan C. Spurgin, Megan L. Tarmichael and Madison A. Zurcher.

Lindsay Louis is the class salutatorian, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average in regular academic classes.

Forty-nine students have earned an Honors Diploma by maintaining a minimum 3.5 grade point average in a rigorous advanced courses and meet Oregon University System requirements.

Five exchange students will participate in graduation ceremonies. Cesar Campuzano, class member who died in June 2013, will receive an honorary diploma.

Newberg High School Principal and Assistant Superintendent, Dave Parker, will join the class valedictorians and Associated Student Body officers in addressing the class. Vocal Point!, NHS award winning ensemble choir, will lead the national anthem.

Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza will present the Class of 2016 and members of the Newberg School Board will present diplomas to the approximately 320 graduates.

Traditional graduation activities include a senior recognition night on Wednesday, June 8th  and a senior breakfast prior to graduation practice on Thursday, June 9th.

A parent-sponsored all-night drug and alcohol-free Grad Night Party at an un-disclosed location follow the Friday night graduation ceremonies.

A privately organized Baccalaureate will be held at 7 p.m. June 7, 2015 at Newberg Friends Church.
