Newberg schools host Chinese teachers

Newberg School District hosted several school visits for a visiting teacher delegation from Chengdu, China in the past two weeks. The Chinese educators are participating in a George Fox University educational program highlighting innovative teaching practices in American schools. They visited two local elementary schools (Joan Austin and Edward Elementary) and a local high school (Green School) to observe teaching practices in the field.

In addition to the observations, the Chinese educators participated in workshops taught by GFU faculty covering a variety of topics in education, including: proficiency-based grading, professional learning communities, differentiation for struggling learners, technology as a tool, and teacher leadership.
