NHS future engineers attend Future Engineers Day

NHS Intro to Engineering Design class attends Future Engineers Day

On Feb 23rd, our Intro. to Engineering Design class had the opportunity to go to Future Engineers’ Day in Kaiser.  This is an event put on by the American Society of Civil Engineers that gives high school students the chance to see and hear presentations from all the colleges in Oregon that offer engineering degrees, as well as have lunch with an actual practicing engineer.  During lunch there was a key-note speaker who presented about Engineers Without Borders and some of the projects she had been involved with in South America.  

After lunch, we boarded the bus back to Newberg, but had the opportunity to have a guided tour of the Newberg-Dundee Bypass Project, given by Tony Snyder, of ODOT.  The students were able to access the construction site and got a walking tour of the new bridge, as well as get a general explanation of all the processes involved in this enormous project.
