NHS students ready for German exchange trip

Newberg Oregon School District

This summer, nine NHS students will again be traveling to Lüchow, Germany on the German-American Partnership Program (GAPP) Exchange.  This exchange has been on-going at NHS over the past 27 years and usually occurs every-other year.  Students will be accompanied by Susan Schiller (German teacher-NHS) and Eric Fuchs (5th Grade Edwards Elementary).

On this month-long exchange, the group will land in Berlin and explore the city and the surrounding area for 4 days, then travel to  partner city, Lüchow.  For the remainder of this month-long exchange, students will stay with host families, attend school (Gymnasium Lüchow) with their German partners, and give presentations to various classes about American life. Additionally, students will take two day trips to visit nearby sights and cities.

The German and American partners will begin a joint project to develop a bilingual "Walking History" of both Lüchow and Newberg, which will be completed when the German participants come to Newberg for their month-long stay beginning in October of this coming school year.
