Pam Sherman "Educator of the Week"

Newberg Oregon School District

Newberg High School math teacher Pam Sherman was featured Friday morning as the K103-FM Educator of the Week. The popular Silver School teacher was nominated by Melody McMasters, a parent, for this honor. Here's what they have to say about Mrs. Sherman:

Pam Sherman has been teaching for 31 years! Her nominator, Melody McMaster, is a parent of two sons who have taken classes from Mrs. Sherman. She says Pam has made a positive difference in the lives of her sons even when they were not in her class. She says Mrs. Sherman has a way of explaining math that makes it easier to understand. McMaster says it doesn't matter whether they're taking a math class from her or another math teacher, they seek Sherman out if they don't fully understand what they're learning. She says Mrs. Sherman always takes the time to be there for them. She not only teaches concepts of math, but she invests the time to really get to know her students. McMaster says Mrs. Sherman has helped to teach her sons lessons that go beyond math and the classroom. Her oldest son is a senior and was not required to take a math class, but chose to take one with the added encouragement of Mrs. Sherman. Pam Sherman's principal, Eric Bergmann adds, "She's an amazingly gifted teacher who deserves all the kudos in the world."
