PCC Newberg offers advising sessions

PCC Newberg Center at night

Despite what the calendar says now, fall is right around the corner...which means the launch of the fall 2011 term at Portland Community College!

More than 40 classes, both credit and non-credit, will be offered at PCC’s new Newberg center (135 Werth Blvd., Newberg, Ore., 97132) beginning Sept. 26; visit http://www.pcc.edu/about/locations/newberg/ for more details. Registration is now under way for all credit classes; beginning Aug. 1, students may register for non-credit courses.

Students interested in taking courses in the fall 2011 term are encouraged to set an appointment for an advising session or visit the PCC START (Student Training, Advising, Registration and Troubleshooting) Lab. Each advising session takes approximately 30 minutes and can cover a range of questions and topics – placement testing, admissions, financial aid and more.

To set an advising appointment, contact Mike Meade, PCC’s Start Lab coordinator in Newberg, at (971) 722- 8603 or by e-mail at michael.meade1@pcc.edu. The START Lab is open during the following times:

  • Tuesdays – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Wednesdays – 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursdays – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Fridays – 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Saturdays – 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The START Lab is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Another opportunity to take advantage of is the PCC Newberg advising event scheduled for Sept. 9, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Academic advising, financial aid, registration, admission how-to’s, and transferring to and from PCC are some of the topics to be addressed. Additionally, group orientations will be given for students present, and appointments will be set for placement testing. For more information about the event, call (971) 722- 8602.
