Peter Russo Earns Triple Crown

No, it's not a horse race....

NHS junior Peter Russo won the freestyle and Greco titles at 130 lbs during the Greco-Roman state championships April 30 and May 1 at Oregon State University.  He defeated McNary's Devin Reynolds by technical fall in the freestyle finals and took down JR Ramsey of Centennial, also by technical fall, to win the Greco title.

 Peter swept both events for the third consecutive year, but completed the elusive Triple Crown by adding the wins to the OSAA 6A state title at 125 lbs that he won this winter.  Peter is the first Newberg wrestler since Alec Ortiz in 2008 to take home theTriple Crown.
