SBAC testing to begin first week of April

Dear Juniors and Parent/Guardians,

Juniors at Newberg High School will be doing Smarter Balanced testing (SBAC) on April 6th, 7th, 10th, and 11th. This year, students will be testing during an extended advisory time at the beginning of each day. The 2.5 hour extended advisory allotment is the recommended time for each section of the test, but students will have as long as necessary to complete each test. During these dates, students will not be missing class time.

The state of Oregon adopted SBAC to measure proficiency in Math and Language Arts at the 11th grade level. If students do not meet the minimum passing score in these areas, they will need to satisfy the Essential Skills standards through other means in order to meet the state graduation requirements.

Students will be more successful on the test if they get a good night’s rest, eat a solid breakfast, and arrive for school on time. Please do not schedule appointments during your students testing times. Students should try their best on all exams. NO CELL PHONES are allowed on the students.

We appreciate your continued support of academics at Newberg High School.
