Tanner inducted into Music Hall of Fame

Newberg Oregon School District

Newberg High School band director Joel Tanner becomes the youngest person to be inducted into the Friend of Music “Hall of Fame” at Pacific University in Forest Grove. The award honors graduates of Pacific University who have made a difference in the world of music and music education. Tanner receives the award May 5th. The Friends of Music is an alumni and support organization for the Pacific University Music Department.

“I am honored to be given a place in this distinguished group of educators and musicians that I have looked up to for decades,” said Tanner, who confessed he is nervous about having his picture hung next them in the hall of fame at Pacific. “I worked under several of these distinguished musicians in middle and high school honor bands and again when I was in college long after most of them retired, and I still don't think I will ever be on the same playing field.”
