Tiger Athletics: thank you seniors!

Newberg Oregon School District

Senior Moments:

No, not the forgetful things we struggle with, but the opportunities to thank our senior student-athletes and their parents for their time,

their passion and their dedication to our athletic programs.

As we wrap up our winter seasons, some of our programs have held the last home event of their seasons and others are scheduled to do in the next few weeks.

On Thursday, February 5, the Boys and Girls Swim Teams sent our seniors off with impressive wins over Sherwood and St. Mary's Academy.  During a break in the meet, seniors were introduced with their parents and listen to the words and appreciation of Head Coach George Sampson.  The following swimmers will finish their high school swim careers at the District and State Meets, both of which are held at Mt. Hood Community College.  Wishing the following seniors the best of luck: Craig Beecher, Evan Bell, Nicola Bolz, Joshua Duffin, Brooklyne Hazenberg, David Flores Juarez, Juan Andres Guerrero Mora, Kyle Hansen, Casey Jentges, Cameron Kisling, Tate Masse, Katrina Reichenbach and Chiara Zangrandi.

The Three Rivers League District meet is on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14.

Our wrestling program sent their eight seniors off in style by defeating league rival Canby Cougars, 36-27.  Senior Carson Albo brought a packed house to its feet as he pinned his opponent in his last home dual meet.  Congrats to Carson Albo, Kasey Fish, Brandon Harper, Timothy Lane, Matthew Mc Carthy, Justen McConville, Evan Smith and James Williams.

Newberg High School also recognized former Assistant Coach, Rudy Vendrell, who stands as the only individual who spent 30 years in a program big on tradition and excellence.  Coach Vendrell has retired from his coaching position.

Both boys and girls basketball teams, as well as our cheerleaders will hold their final regular season home games and honor their seniors and parents in the next few weeks.

Congrats and thank you to both our seniors and their parents!
