Tim Burke named Athletic Director of the Year

The Oregon Athletic Directors Association named Newberg High School Athletic Director Tim Burke as the 2012 6A Athletic Director of the Year. He will be recognized at the organization’s annual conference in April.

Burke has served as athletic director at Newberg High School for 14 years. He taught math for 11 years and has coached both football and basketball. Among his many achievements, Burke is recognized for:

• Establishing athletic awards that recognize character, leadership and commitment
• Establishing the girl’s golf program at NHS
• Emphasizing academic success; NHS teams consistently finish in Top Ten Academic All-State Awards
• Engaging community support to improve softball, baseball and track facilities at NHS
• Piloting the ImPact concussion management program for all student-atheletes at NHS
