Newberg is ranked in the top tier of public high school across the country by U.S. News & World according to a report on the nation's high schools released Tuesday. The annual report evaluated more than 21,000 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards and how well they prepare students for college.

The award recognizes schools that provide a good education across their entire student body and that prepare students for postsecondary opportunities.

There are 88 Oregon schools ranked among the U.S. News Best High Schools in 2013, including three with gold medals, 30 with silver medals and 55 with bronze medals.
