“If I were Mayor . . .”
Newberg Mayor Bob Andrews will again sponsor the “If I were Mayor…” contest organized by the Oregon Mayor’s Association. According to Andrews, there is a slight change to the theme this year: “If I were Mayor, After–School Would Be…”
"This is an opportunity for the youth of Newberg to share their creative ideas about what after-school opportunities they would like to see in their city and what else they would do as mayor," said Andrews.
There is a poster contest for elementary grades 4-6, an essay contest for middle school students and a video/PowerPoint presentation for middle or high school students. Local winners at each of the grade levels will be awarded first, second and third place prizes. The first-place winners will be forward to the Oregon Mayor’s Association and entered into the statewide competition for the opportunity to win a new laptop computer. Contest rules and contest entry form may be found on the city’s web site home page at www.newbergoregon.gov.
