Emergencies and Illness
When students become ill or are injured at school, the following steps are taken:
- The student's home is called first to report illness or emergency.
- If a parent cannot be reached at home or work, the person listed on the emergency authorization card will be called.
- If there is no response at this number, the family physician is called.
- If the family physician cannot be reached, the student will be taken to Providence Newberg Hospital.
Please complete the emergency authorization form very carefully. Complete, accurate information including home and work numbers is very important.
Please keep you child at home if he/she has had a fever over 100 degrees, nausea, diarrhea or vomiting within the last 24 hours.
Taking medication at school
It may be necessary for a student to take medication at school. The following steps must be taken before school personnel can dispense any form of medication (prescription and over the counter) at school:
- Parent or guardian must present the medication to the office and sign a district medication permission form.
- Students may not transport medication to and from school.
- All medication must be in their original container and not expired.
- Prescription medication must have the prescription label attached.
