Rumor: An attempted abduction took place at Mountain View Middle School.
Truth: There was no attempted abduction at Mountain View Middle School.
Students waiting for the 4 p.m. late bus and their supervising staff member were approached by a man who walked in to the bus lane from the street. The man said “You’re my daughter” to one of the students. The man left when the staff member told him to leave. Newberg-Dundee Police were called to investigate.
The man in question lives in the neighborhood and is known to the local police. He is not considered violent. His unusual behavior is related to a traumatic injury. Newberg-Dundee Police are aware that the presence of this individual in the neighborhood may be disturbing and are working with responsible parties to maintain a safe neighborhood.
The orderly operation of school is essential to maintaining a safe learning environment. Mountain View parents are encouraged to contact the school office if they have any questions.
