COVID Update—Jan. 14, 2022
(Published Jan. 14, 2022)
We want to let you know of a change to our COVID protocols that was announced today by the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education. They have found that the majority of cases of COVID have been transmitted through indoor unmasked contact. Therefore, from this point forward, Oregon will no longer consider masked contact in K-12 settings (including on school buses) to be an exposure regardless of distancing. We will still work to maintain physical distancing to the greatest extent possible.
We will still do contact tracing, focusing on meal times where masks are not in place, and the improper wearing of masks in the classroom. Anyone testing positive must quarantine for five days, regardless of vaccination status. Due to a lack of testing kits, we encourage anyone who has symptoms to stay home for five days.
Thanks to our staff who are working extra to cover for co-workers who are out sick. Our student absence rate is high due to sickness. Please wear masks and avoid large groups as much as possible over this holiday weekend as we work together to get through this surge in cases. Oregon and Yamhill County have more positive cases right now than at any other time through the pandemic.
