District seeking feedback on new Language Arts materials

The transition to Common Core State Standards has Oregon schools adopting new curriculum and instruction materials. In January 2015, Newberg began the 18-month process of adopting new Language Arts curriculum. K-12 teachers and administrators from all schools have examined various instructional programs, including those recommended by the Oregon Department of Education. Teachers across the district are piloting programs in elementary, middle and high school classes this year.

We are asking for your opinion of the various textbooks and instructional materials in an online survey before a decision is made on which curriculum to adopt. This is an important investment of funds for materials, teacher time for professional development and digital resources. You are welcome to preview the materials on display at your school (see the schedule at the end of this e-mail.)
