Edwards Assistant Principal for 2020-21
As the third-largest school in the district, Edwards Elementary School will gain needed support in the 2020-21 school year by adding a new Assistant Principal position. Out of an excellent pool of bilingual candidates, David Jaimes has been selected to serve in this new role to begin next school year.
“This is a key need for our district, and we are excited for what David Jaimes will bring to the students of Edwards Elementary as he teams with Principal Scott Murphy,” said Superintendent Dr. Joe Morelock.
David Jaimes is currently a 3rd Grade Two-Way-Immersion Teacher at Bridgeport Elementary in the Tigard-Tualatin School District. He is passionate about educating Emerging Bilinguals and has a wealth of experience in Dual Language education. He obtained his M.Ed from Portland State University. “I’ve helped lead equity work in our district,” said Jaimes, “and I look forward to contributing in similar ways in Newberg.” Jaimes has experience working with historically underserved and marginalized communities and is passionate about helping these communities navigate our educational system.

Subdirector para la Escuela Primaria Edwards para el Periodo Escolar 2020-21
Siendo la tercera escuela más grande del distrito, la Escuela Primaria Edwards recibirá el apoyo necesario durante el año escolar 2020-21 agregando un nuevo puesto de Subdirector. De un excelente grupo de candidatos bilingües, David Jaimes ha sido seleccionado para servir en este nuevo rol para comenzar el próximo año escolar.
"Esta es una necesidad clave para nuestro distrito, y estamos entusiasmados con lo que David Jaimes traerá a los estudiantes de la Primaria Edwards al colaborar junto con el Director Scott Murphy", dijo el Superintendente Dr. Joe Morelock.
David Jaimes es actualmente un maestro de Inmersión Bidireccional (Two-Way-Immersion Teacher) de tercer grado en la escuela Bridgeport Elementary en el distrito escolar de Tigard-Tualatin. Le apasiona educar a los estudiantes bilingües emergentes y tiene una gran experiencia en la educación en dos idiomas. Obtuvo su maestría en Educación de la Universidad Estatal de Portland. "He ayudado a liderar el trabajo de equidad en nuestro distrito", dijo el Sr. Jaimes, "y espero contribuir de manera similar en Newberg". El Sr. Jaimes tiene experiencia trabajando con comunidades históricamente marginadas y le apasiona ayudar a estas comunidades a navegar nuestro sistema educativo.
