Experiencing government "Close Up"
Four Newberg High School students just returned from a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience their government in action through a program called "Close Up." From visits to Washington’s famous monuments, memorials, and institutions, to meetings with their Congressional delegation on Capitol Hill, Close Up participants had a first-hand look at the American political system and considered what their role as students, plays in our democracy.
Maria Arenas, Yazmin Campuzano Perez, Maria Elias Rangel and Antonio Pena Anaya explored Washington DC with ELL-Migrant Program Coordinator Jonathan Fost and students from all across the country. Close Up is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, designed to help students learn more about their history and government while considering a variety of viewpoints.
