We have good news that allows us to make sure more students get the food they need. On Monday August 30, the USDA announced that we are able to operate the Summer Food Service Program until the end of December. This will allow any child age 1-18 to eat for free. We are going to continue with the delivery model that we have planned, and want to encourage everyone to take part in this. Deliveries will be on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am–1pm.

Even though this means anyone who signs up will be able to eat for free, I want to encourage all of you to still fill out the free/reduced meal application. We do not know if we will be allowed to continue with the Summer Food Service Program in January. It would be good to have this on file with any direction we go. In addition, those who apply and qualify for free/reduced lunch receive other benefits, like discounted fees associated with classes, sports and testing.

Tenemos buenas noticias que nos permiten asegurar que más estudiantes reciban los alimentos que necesitan. El lunes 30 de agosto, el Departamento de Agricultura (USDA) anunció que podemos operar el Programa de Servicio de Alimentos de Verano hasta finales de diciembre. Esto permitirá que cualquier niño de 1 a 18 años reciba comidas gratuitas. Vamos a seguir con el modelo de entrega que tenemos planificado y queremos animar a todos a participar. Las entregas serán los miércoles y viernes de 11 am a 1 pm.

Aunque esto significa que cualquier persona que se registre podrá recibir alimentos gratis, quiero animarlos a que llenen la Solicitud de Alimentos Gratis o a precio reducido. No sabemos si se nos permitirá continuar con el Programa de Servicio de Alimentos de Verano en enero. Sería bueno tener esta solicitud en expediente para cualquier dirección que tome este programa. Además, aquellos que solicitan y califican para recibir almuerzo gratis/precio reducido reciben otros beneficios, como tarifas con descuento asociadas con clases, deportes y exámenes.
