The Oregon Department of Education recognized Anita Galian, Newberg School District migrant family liaison, as it’s 2015 Oregon Title I-C “Employee of the Year” at a parent meeting on Monday night.  Galian was honored for her “commitment and outstanding dedication to Oregon’s migrant students and their families.”

Title I-C is the Migrant Education Program that ensures migrant children fully benefit from the same free public education provided to other children. The Newberg Migrant Program serves 333 students. The 15-year district veteran facilitates student enrollment, home to school communication and connects families to resources. Galian considers the award as recognition to the dedicated four-member staff who “do their best to serve the students and families in the Migrant Program.”
