Gardner named interim CFO

Newberg Oregon School District

Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza announced that Gwen Gardner will remain as interim Chief Financial Officer at the Newberg School District until the end of the current school year.

Gardner stepped in to manage the district’s finances on September 4th following the resignation of Nate Roedel. This is the second time Gardner has served in this role in Newberg. She was the interim director of finance during the 2008-09 school year.

Gardner is a veteran business manager, who retired from the Hood River School District with twenty-five years experience in business and accounting. Since her retirement, she continued working with the Willamette Education Service District in assisting local school districts with the use school finance software.   For the last nine years, Gardner has worked as the business manager in Willamette and Multnomah Education Service Districts, Yamhill-Carlton and Hermiston School Districts, and provided technical support to the Intermountain Education Service District.

Earlier in her career, Gardner served as Lane County ESD Business Manager for nine years; Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Eton Technical Institute, Seattle; Business Manager and Deputy Clerk for Aumsville School District and as Accounting Clerk for The Dalles School District for six years.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the $67,519,642 all-funds budget, which includes revenue and expenditures for the $43,4300,000 general fund budget that supports instruction and operation of the 5,100-student district.
