Longtime Newberg High School teacher, administrator and coach, Joe Boutin passed away Dec 14, 2022. Prior to joining the staff at Newberg in 1974, Boutin began his teaching and coaching career at Clatskanie High School in 1962. He then spent 10 years teaching and coaching basketball and track at Taft High School in Lincoln City. After teaching health and coaching basketball and track at Newberg High School, Boutin retired as Assistant Principal in 1991. He continued coaching the javelin at NHS until 2017. His 42 years of coaching resulted in 13 individual state champions, several high school and NCAA All-Americans and three Olympians. Boutin was a dedicated educator whose impact continues to ripple throughout the education and track communities, near and far.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Newberg High School auditorium on February 4, 2023 at 2:00pm.
