Mark Brown Appointed Permanent Assistant Principal

Mark Brown, Assistant Principal

Superintendent Dr. Joe Morelock has made Mark Brown’s temporary placement as Assistant Principal at Newberg High School permanent, after receiving a recommendation from Principal Tami Erion. “Mark is doing a great job, and is invested in Newberg,” said Morelock. “This is the right thing for Newberg High, and I’m glad Mark is on the team.”

Brown has been a fixture at Newberg High School, with six years as a teacher and eight years coaching boys basketball (the last five as head coach). He served as activities director for four of his six teaching years, and this past year has been interim assistant principal. His current duties will continue, giving oversight to attendance, culture, communication, facilities, 8th to 9th grade transition, the math department, and the College and Career Center.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to remain in the role of Assistant Principal at NHS,” said Brown. “I am excited about continuing the work we have been doing to improve the Climate and Culture of Newberg Nation.  We have amazingly talented students that we get to work with, and I believe they deserve the absolute best. We have an incredible group of staff who are committed to doing Whatever It Takes to provide our students with the best educational experience possible, and I am humbled to have the privilege of continuing to work alongside them in an administrative role.  I look forward to being a member of Newberg Nation for a long, long time!”
