After a 29 career, including 10 years as Nutrition Services Supervisor here in Newberg Public Schools, Cheri Meeker is retiring at the end of this school year. “I have worked with so many awesome people over the years,” Meeker said. “I'll miss them the most. I'm looking forward to no alarm clock and spending a lot of time with my grand kids.”                                   

Shiloh Ficek has been hired to lead the district’s food services. “I’m confident we hired the right person to build upon what Cheri has done, and we look forward to what his creativity will bring to the table,” said Nikki Fowler, Director of Finance. For the last four years, Ficek has served as the Nutrition Service Manager in the Yamhill-Carlton School District, where his collaborative managerial skills were highlighted by his co-workers. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Portland, Ficek also has more than twelve years of experience as a chef/manager in the food and beverage industry at places like Red Hills Market in Dundee.

“It has been a goal of mine to work for the Newberg School District, as my family is settled in Newberg,” Ficek said. “I desire to put my efforts to work making a difference in my own community.” Ficek will begin working July 1, 2019.

"Ha sido uno de mis objetivos trabajar para el Distrito Escolar de Newberg, ya que mi familia está asentada en esta ciudad", dijo el Sr. Ficek. "Deseo poner mis esfuerzos en trabajar para hacer una diferencia en mi propia comunidad". El Sr. Ficek comenzará a trabajar el 1º  de julio de 2019.
