New high school field to see action this Friday night
When the Newberg High School Tigers take to their home football field Friday night, they’ll be playing on a synthetic all-weather surface – a first for the 6A high school.
The new field is part of a major upgrade to the high school athletic facilities. The improvements include a brand new track and new field venues for javelin, long jump, discus, shot put and pole vault events. The field will be home to the NHS football and soccer teams.
A brief presentation during halftime at the Friday night game will recognize community members, designers and builders who played key roles in making the new facilities possible.
Special guests include 2012 USA Olympic athletes Cyrus Hostetler and Rachel Yurkovich, 2005 Newberg High graduates who competed in the javelin at the London Olympics.
Newberg’s new track and field was designed by BOORA Architects and constructed by Field Turf USA. The athletic facilities were built using school bond funds
