New online learning program debuts
A tuition-free, virtual learning program that blends an online instructional program with regular teacher contact debuted last week for 13 students in grades 1 – 8. The Chehalem Online Learning Alliance is collaboration between home-school parents and the school district.
Students and their parents have a choice of curriculums plus community-based enrichment opportunities including arts, recreation and music. The program also includes textbooks and materials, small group instruction, parent support and weekly meetings with a licensed, highly qualified teacher. There is no tuition because the program is affiliated with the Newberg School District.
The Chehalem Online Learning Alliance is open to district students currently homeschooled or enrolled in online programs. Nonresident students in Yamhill, Washington and Marion counties may enroll for the 2012-13 school year through the open enrollment transfer period February 15 – March 30. Follow the link below to learn more about the school and how to enroll.
