Newberg boosts graduation rate

Newberg Oregon School District

The Newberg High School 2014 graduation rate increased to 76.6 percent according to data released today by the Oregon Department of Education.  This marks a 6.4 percentage point increase compared to the 2013 graduation rate.

Beginning with the Class of 2014, Oregon is including all special education students who earned modified diplomas in its definition of a high school graduate. Six NHS students earned a modified diploma; 292 students earned a regular diploma.

“Including students receiving modified diplomas creates a more accurate view of our graduates,” said Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza. “We expect to continue this upward trajectory as we eliminate barriers to graduation for students in the future.”
