Newberg FFA headed to nationals
Four top-rated agriscience projects qualified six Newberg FFA members for national competition in October, 2017. Morgan Lemen, Kylie Holveck, Kennedy Rainey, Cody Cox, Todd Halleman and John McCarthy earned first place finishes in environmental science, social science and food products and processing contests at the 89th Oregon FFA state convention.
Mariah Lemen and Abigayle Darula were awarded the FFA State Degree, the highest honor FFA awards members.
Sixteen Newberg High School students participated in leadership workshops, Career Development Events, service projects, and listened to keynote speakers at the Deschutes County Expo Center March 24-27. The Newberg students, along with 3,000 other FFA members and guests from around the state, also got to sing along with country music singer and songwriter, Jerrod Neiman.
