In The News: Kids support Kiwanis' efforts

Newberg Oregon School District

Michael Mark, president of the Mabel Rush Elementary School K-Kids Club, presented Kiwanis Pacific Northwest District Governor Robert Munger with a check for $200 earlier this month.

The club of third- through fifth-grade students participated in Trick or Treat for UNICEF in order to raise the money for Project Eliminate, a Kiwanis International Initiative to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus throughout the world. A tetanus shot costing $1.80 will save the life of the mother and all of her babies.

To date Kiwanis has raised more than $60 million toward this effort. Other officers of the club are vice president Olivia Lawson, secretary Halsie Hempfling and treasurer Palmer Thompson.
