Newberg Oregon School District

The Tigers top the Academic All-State rankings for their sport with a 3.98 grade-point average

Led by the Newberg girls cross-country team, every qualifying OSAA team in the area posted at least a 3.0 grade-point average for the fall.

The Tigers harriers team posted a 3.98 GPA to finish as the highest team in the sport in any classification.

Four other area teams were named to the Academic All-State Top 10 for their classification, including the St. Paul football team, which tied with Burns for first in 2A at 3.43.

Also making the top 10 were: Newberg football, which came in fourth in 6A at 3.33; St. Paul volleyball, which was fifth with a 3.82 GPA; and C.S. Lewis Academy co-ed soccer, which placed eighth in 1A/2A/3A boys soccer at 3.51.

The OSAA also recognizes any team that posted a 3.0 GPA or better, which all of the remaining area teams did.

That group was led by Newberg boys cross-country, which posted a 3.66 GPA, but also included C.S. Lewis volleyball (3.58), Newberg girls soccer (3.49), Newberg volleyball (3.41) and Newberg boys soccer (3.13).
