Newberg junior Sklyer Atkinson is an accomplished archer, martial artist, musician and aspiring filmmaker. She earned recognition as the Newberg honoree in the Pamplin Media 2014 Amazing Kid publication produced in October.

“Skylar is one of the most unique and driven students I have ever had in my classroom. When Skylar decides to learn something, she doesn’t give up until she has mastered it – a very impressive quality for a high school junior,” said Diane Williams, retired Chehalem Valley Middle School teacher.
