Notice of Instructional Materials Review for English Language Arts Curriculum Adoption
In keeping with School Board Policy IIA, this notice serves to inform the Newberg school district community of the review and recommendation of English Language Arts Instructional Materials. After several months of committee review and piloting of instructional materials, our elementary, middle and high school ELA adoption committee members met and reviewed the pilot scoring and narrative data collected through the piloting process. Each team came to a consensus on the following recommendation that will go to the board for approval on June 14th:
K-5: Amplify CKLA
6-8: Amplify ELA
9-12: Inquiry by Design
K-5 Dual Language: Benchmark
As per board policy, the curriculum recommendations will be open for public review at the Newberg Public Schools District office (714 E. 6th St.) from May 26-June 10, 2022 during regular working hours (8AM-5PM). Please call the district office (503-554-5000) to make an appointment to review the materials prior to visiting in person.
The approved materials will be implemented in the 2022-2023 school year. For more information, please contact Karen Pugsley, Director of Teaching and Learning, at pugsleyk@newberg.k12.or.us. Read more about the adoption process on the Oregon Department of Education Instructional Materials website.
