Newberg Public Schools celebrated employees for outstanding teaching and service at the district's 18th annual Crystal Apple Awards recognition program on Wednesday, June 14th at the Chehalem Cultural Center. Superintendent Kym LeBlanc-Esparza and Assistant Superintendent hosted the annual program to recognize years of service, retiring staff members, celebrate school year highlights and present awards.

Dawn Reed - Outstanding Elementary Teacher
A model for 21st Century instruction, Dawn is known for high quality, engaging and relevant learning for all students. at Ewing Young Elementary.

Kathy Mickus - Outstanding Middle School Teacher
Kathy teams with each student to make sure instruction suits his or her individual needs. Her Mountain View Middle School students are encouraged to think and learn from their struggles and mistakes.

Jacob Peterson - Outstanding High School Teacher
This NHS special needs teacher develops trusted, positive working relationships with students and families while staying organized, thoughtful and advocating for students.

Gerry Mallory - Outstanding Instructional Assistant
This Mountain View Middle School assistant's dedication has resulted in support systems for a very diverse group of at-risk students that promote learning and behavior success.

Tina Senz- Outstanding Classified Employee
Chehalem Valley Middle School’s kitchen manager goes above and beyond for kids and staff on a regular basis.

Bill Rogers- Outstanding Administrator
As Principal at Catalyst alternative high school, Bill’s commitment to providing a high quality educational experience to all students is evident in this school’s best-ever graduation rate.
