Peterson will lead School-to-Work program

Newberg Oregon School District

A portion of the $496,266 Career Technical Education grant to the Newberg School District focuses on expanding business partnerships that will add relevance to course work through site visits, project tours, guest speakers, job shadow and internships, mentorships, guest speakers and dual credit opportunities.

Instrumental to coordinating the partnership between Newberg students and educators, business and industry is new School-to-Business Coordinator, Vicki Peterson.

Peterson has coordinated the Newberg High School career center for the last four years and previously worked as a career development specialist in the former School to Work Program at NHS. She is a former Leadership Newberg participant and facilitator. Vicki’s experience connecting students to career development opportunities and her strong connections with community, business, educators and students are key to her hitting the ground running.

Partners in the CTE grant program are A.R.E. Manufacturing, A-decInc., Climax Portable Machining and Welding Systems, Chehalem Valley Chamber of  Commerce, City of Newberg, Oregon Department of Transportation and Portland Community College.
