School Board Seeks Applicants for Zone 4 Vacancy/Junta Directiva Escolar en busca de Candidatos para Vacante para la Zona 4
Director Todd Thomas announced his resignation from the Newberg School Board at the November 5, 2018 Board meeting. Thomas is the longest serving member of the Board, first elected in May of 2009 and serving ever since.
The Board is seeking candidates to fill this Zone 4 vacancy. The Board will appoint someone to serve until June 30, 2019. The seat will then be on the ballot in the May 2019 election, with the winner serving the remainder of Thomas’ term until June 30, 2021. Candidates must be registered voters and reside within the boundaries of Zone 4 for at least one year in order to serve. Zone 4 is the southeast portion of the district: roughly the area south of Highway 99W and Old Parrett Mountain Road, east of Everett Rd., and north of the Willamette River.
Newberg Public Schools are governed by a seven-member Board of Directors. All board members are volunteers and receive no compensation. An application form is attached, and must be returned to Board Secretary Gregg Koskela by Friday, November 30, 2018 at 5 pm. La Junta Directiva Escolar está buscando candidatos para llenar esta vacante de la Zona 4. La Junta nombrará a alguien para servir hasta el 30 de junio de 2019. El puesto estará en la boleta electoral en las elecciones de mayo de 2019, y el ganador cumplirá el resto del período del Sr. Thomas hasta el 30 de junio de 2021.
