The Newberg School Board is seeking candidates to fill a vacant position representing the Dundee area. Interested persons must be registered voters and reside in Board Zone 1 for one year preceding the appointment. The board will appoint a citizen to fulfill the unexpired term through June 30, 2011.

The school board declared a vacancy at the July 12, 2010 meeting following the resignation of Steve Cathers. Cathers, whose employment will take him out of the area, has served on the school board for three years.

Board Zone 1 stretches from southwest Newberg along the Willamette River and the district’s western boundary up the southern face of the Dundee Hills. A complete description and map of Board Zone 1 are online.
