Seeking host family for exchange teacher
Newberg School district is looking for a host family to share the experience of American culture with the exchange teacher participating in the Teachers of Critical Languages Program this coming school year. In additional to understanding American culture, the teacher coming to teach Mandarin to Newberg middle and high school students wants to share her Chinese culture with Americans and improve relationships between our two countries. The host family, or families hosting for a partial year, would be responsible for renting a room in their home, including her in day-to-day family life and assisting with transportation to and from the high school (she will have a bicycle.) The exchange teacher will participate in an American “boot camp,” a welcome program and local cultural introduction, plus ongoing Chinese cultural exchange activities at George Fox University. A host (or hosts) is needed between August 20, 2015 through June 2016. Please contact Stafford Boyd at 503-554-5015 or boyds@newberg.k12.or.us for further information.
