Staffing situation with COVID
(posted 1/10/2022)
As you’ve watched the news, you may have seen that the record increase in COVID cases in Oregon has forced other school districts to transition individual classes, entire schools, and even entire districts to remote learning. In those cases, there are simply not enough healthy adults or subs available to safely educate and supervise students.
We are working hard to continue operating schools safely in-person by recruiting subs and reassigning district and other personnel to cover as we are able. We are so grateful for the dedication of our hard working staff!
However, we are close to a tipping point. Today, 70 staff members are out, and less than 50% of those positions have been covered.
You may see individual classes or entire schools need to close for a few days. If we have a longer closure, or if the entire district is affected, we will implement our plans to transition to remote learning. In that situation, there will likely be some time needed for teachers to prepare for that transition.
We are working hard to avoid a change to remote learning. Please help us by wearing a mask, avoiding gathering in groups of 10 or more in person, and following other strategies to slow the spread.
