Summer SMART program seeks volunteer readers
The summer Start Making A Reader Today (SMART ) program is looking for volunteers to read with kindergarten and 1st grade students at Edwards Elementary School this summer. The five-week program begins July 12th and runs through August 11th on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
SMART readers don't need to read the entire 2 hours both days. Volunteers can read with students for either or both days for anywhere from 30 minutes to the full two hours.
Readers are needed in both English and Spanish. College and high school students are welcome to volunteer.
Persons interested in volunteering for the SMART program should contact Mary Nelson at the Newberg School District at 503-554-5015 or e-mail nelsonm@newberg.k12.or.us.
