Troy Fisher to lead Antonia Crater
Newberg School District selected veteran principal Troy Fisher to lead Antonia Crater Elementary School in the coming school year. Fisher is principal of Brooklyn Elementary School in the Baker School District. He succeeds Kevin Milner, who moves to Ewing Young Elementary as a full time principal with responsibility for implementing the districts new K-8 literacy plan.
The Newberg School Board approved Fisher’s selection at the April 23rd school board meeting following a rigorous selection process.
“Troy brings strengths in early childhood and kindergarten readiness,” said LeBlanc-Esparza. “In addition to his leadership experience, he’ll lend expertise in assessment at just the right time.”
Fisher is in his 20th year as an educator. He has led Brooklyn Elementary School since 2004, implementing new programs, building a positive school culture and designing standards-based report cards. Fisher has also taught third and first grades at Trent Primary School in Pleasant Hill, Oregon. Early teaching assignments included teaching grades ¾ blends in Monument and Paisley, Oregon, elementary schools.
Fisher holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Oregon. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Western Oregon University.
“I am looking forward to coming to Newberg,” said the Salem native. “All my research points to a results-oriented district with a positive reputation. I’m excited to start this new position.”
In addition to having extensive family in the Willamette Valley, Fisher’s wife is a George Fox University graduate. He has three children and is an active community member.
