Two opportunities to recognize outstanding students in the community
Nominate an “Amazing Kid”
The Newberg Graphic and Pamplin Media Group are accepting nominations for boys and girls who make a difference in their community. An “Amazing Kid” from the Newberg-Dundee area will be honored at an event and in a special newspaper section this October. Nominees in grades K-12 may be accomplished in academics or sports, but community service is a primary criteria.
To submit a nomination, submit in writing what makes this student a worthy candidate to represent our community. Keep your nomination to 500 words or less and include the nominee’s and their parents name, telephone and/or e-mail contact information. Submit your nomination to Gary Allen at gallen@newberggraphic.com, 500 E. Hancock St., Newberg OR 97132 by March 27, 2015.
Recognize a “Junior Citizen”
Nominations are open to select an outstanding student to be honored as “Junior Citizen of the Year” by the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce. This award recognizes a student in grade 8 – 12 who has made outstanding contributions to the community.
To be considered for the Junior Citizen of the Year Award, the nominee must have a minimum “C” grade point average and demonstrate outstanding citizenship. The nominee’s achievement should be something that contributes to the betterment of the community, sets an example or encourages participation of others. Recognition may be given to service that is continuing or associated with a one-time project of significance to the community.
Nomination forms are online and available at all middle and high school offices and at the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce. All nominations must be received at the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce office by March 1, 2015.
