Guidelines for Information Distribution

503The Newberg School District is a supportive partner in community wide efforts to provide students and their families with information about resources and opportunities for young people. Please follow these simple guidelines to help provide information to students and families.  Note:  Procedures for distribution of materials have changed due to the volume of requests and the disruption to teachers and building secretaries time.

Who needs approval?
All communication from organizations other than the school district or school building administrator require approval from the superintendent/designee. Approval will come from the communications office.

Parent groups organizations or team flyers, brochures and posters require approval from the school principal/designee for that school only.

Items requiring superintendent/designee approval for school or district wide distribution:
• Request from organizations other than the school district or building administrator
• Parent group flyers, brochures or posters intended for distribution in other schools

Content/Criteria
• Information of education concern or interest or benefit to youth and family, such as community events, classes, sports & recreation and opportunities. In general, we publish events that are free, not ones that cost our families (unless they are partners to the district like Chehalem Park and Recreation Department (CPRD))
• Contact name and telephone number, e-mail optional
• Correct grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Spanish translation for hard copy flyers distributed to schools

Materials may be submitted by hard copy to the school district office or electronically via the district website (E-Friday Folder.)

Distribution
• All district approved flyers or brochures will appear in:

  • E-Friday Folder on district website and mobile app
  • District website Community Calendar

• On request

  • Hardcopies of flyers for general distribution in elementary and middle schools in limited quantities determined by the school (these must be in English & Spanish)
  • Approved flyers, brochures or posters from a non-profit may be posted on school bulletin boards or places where posters/flyers are typically posted
